1. The eHealth Transformation Challenge is designed as an educational event to encourage collaboration and innovative problem solving around a public health problem in North Carolina. The topic of the April 11 & 12 event is aimed at designing and pitching technology based solutions that fit into one of six future mechanisms of coordination and improve the quality of life for caregivers of elderly with dementia at home.
  2. To participate in the eHealth Transformation Challenge you must register at http://nwahec.org/etc by Midnight EDT April 10, 2015.
  3. In order to be eligible for prizes, all submissions must be a result of teaming and designing starting after March 1, 2015.
  4. In order to be eligible for prizes, all pitches must be delivered in person by a team member on April 12 between 3pm and 5pm live (in person) at the event at Quintiles to the panel of judges.
  5. All intellectual property created by teams at this event will remain the property of the teams that propose them.
  6. All pitches will be videotaped and may appear in promotional videos summarizing the event and promoting future events.
  7. Individuals who wish to serve as team captains must post an idea and at least 4 job descriptions open for signup on the event teaming site by Noon EDT, April 11, 2015.
  8. Team captains are free to accept the first team members who applyselect potential team members.
  9. Teams must be finalized on the event’s team site by 1pm EDT, April, 11 2015
  10. The Code for America code of conduct will be enforced at all times. If 3 out of 5 judges find breaches in this code of conduct, a team may be disqualified.
  11. Judging will occur immediately following final pitches on April 12. Winners will be announced by 5pm in person and posted to the event website.
  12. Official Judging: A panel of 5 Judges, each representing a different organization with expertise in technology and aging. Judges will evaluate all pitches and will award points based ad their individual discretion on a standardized scorecard. 
  13. Judges will award up to 10 points at thier individual discretion in the following five categories:
    1. Potential to improve quality of life in caregivers of elderly with dementia in their homes
    2. Utilization of at least one of the six futuristic mechanisms of care coordination
    3. Level of participation from multi-disciplinary problem solving team.
    4. Viable business strategy in the marketplace
    5. Innovative solution that is truly unique
